“I thank God she has been released unhurt and healthy,” Mr. Hassan said.
It was gathered from a source that the kidnappers had earlier demanded a N50 million ransom from the family before releasing the woman.
The lawmaker however, declined to spill the milk on whether the N50 million ransom was paid to the kidnappers or not.
Speaking on the incident, Muyiwa Adejobi, the state’s police spokesperson confirmed the release of the Mr. Hassan’s mother.
“Yes, the mama has been released unhurt,” Adejobi said in a text message, but also refused to acknowledged if the ransom was paid or
not.
It would be recalled that Punch reported that the gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, stormed the lawmaker’s mother’s residence at Omu-Ijebu in Odogbolu Local Government Area of the state about 8.pm on Wednesday October 2, and whisked her away.
Meanwhile, officers of Edo state Police command reportedly killed no fewer than two suspected armed robbers and kidnappers during a gun duel between them and the hoodlums.
