The Democratic Republic of Congo's health ministry has announced that 101 inmates have tested positive for Coronavirus in the N'dolo military prison in Kinshasa.
“Fifty-six (additional) people in Ndolo military prison were confirmed with COVID-19” on Saturday, while forty-three cases had been diagnosed at the prison on Thursday and Friday," a statement said.
According to the authorities, only three infected inmates have been admitted to a hospital outside the facility. Six inmates are under close supervision in the prison while the rest have mild symptoms.
It was also revealed that three wings of the prison were disinfected on Monday.
With the new figures, there are 682 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 34 deaths in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
